Door Metal Detectors, also known as walk-through metal detectors, are specialized security devices designed to detect the presence of metal objects on a person passing through a doorway or entrance. They are commonly used in high-security areas such as airports, government buildings, prisons, and stadiums, where screening large numbers of individuals for concealed weapons or other metallic threats is necessary.

Door Metal Detectors

Door metal detectors consist of a metal detection unit mounted on a frame that creates a doorway. The detection unit is equipped with multiple electromagnetic coils or sensors that generate a magnetic field. When a person walks through the metal detector, any metal object on their body or in their possession will disrupt the magnetic field and trigger an alarm.

These detectors are capable of detecting a wide range of metal objects, including knives, guns, jewelry, and other metallic items. Some advanced models even have the ability to differentiate between ferrous and non-ferrous metals, offering enhanced discrimination capabilities.

Door metal detectors typically have an audio and visual alarm system to alert security personnel when a metal object is detected. The alarms can be set to different sensitivity levels, allowing operators to adjust the detector’s response based on the security requirements of the specific location. In addition, some detectors have a feature called “zone indication,” which helps pinpoint the location on the person’s body where the metal object is detected.
